There doesn't exist a cushioning material - eva,polyurethane etc -that will last as long as the outersoles of good boots.

Looking after the leather is just standard polishing & care. any Nubuck will eventually pick up some marks with extended wear so either polish it to start off or just buy the glossy leather option.
